Who will be the next Chief Justice of Pakistan, reveals Azam Tarar

Federal Minister for Law Azam Nazir Tarar has said that Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will become the next Chief Justice after the incumbent Chief Justice as this is the only constitutional way and no proposal is under consideration.

Tarar while talking on a local TV show said that before the decision of the Supreme Court regarding the reserved seats, the government had a two-third majority in the National Assembly, but even then it did not make any amendment related to the judiciary.

He said that the Chief Justice himself has told him in the meeting that he does not want extension.

The federal minister said that the legislation the government makes only after consultation with the allied parties and stakeholders. There may be a discussion on increasing the powers of the parliamentary committee for selecting judges.

The law minister said that Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will become the Chief Justice after the current Chief Justice as this is the constitutional way and no proposal is under consideration.

He further said that Justice Mansoor Ali Shah had said during the consultation on the constitutional package that the parliament has the power, whatever the parliament will do, if it is within the jurisdiction of the constitution and law, then there is no need to ask us.
