World Cup: England won the toss and decided to bat against Pakistan

Kolkata(web desk) :After overcoming early hostility from Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, England’s opener in Calcutta flourished.

They were also helped by Rauf’s erratic bowling, conceding three mistakes in the first three overs, two of which went over the keeper’s head in the fourth over. England captain Jos Buttler elected to bat after winning the toss. They played against the same team that defeated the Netherlands in Pune. Although it was not the best news for Pakistan, captain Babar Azam added that they will try to make the best of the situation. The only change was the replacement of Hasan Ali by Shadab Khan.

Babar Azam’s side surprised New Zealand with a frenetic DLS-style victory, livening up the campaign until the Black Caps came back to beat Sri Lanka and put Pakistan in the corner once again. Pakistan can level with New Zealand on 10 points with a win against England, but the difference in net run rate remains a persistent problem at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.
