Tucker Carlson: Iran-US Memorandum Signals Major Shift in Global Power Dynamics

American conservative commentator Tucker Carlson has described the recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States as a historic geopolitical turning point, arguing that it reflects Washington’s recognition of Iran as a regional power that cannot be subdued through military pressure.
Commenting on the agreement, which was digitally signed by U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Carlson said the development could have far-reaching implications for the global balance of power.
“With this, the United States has officially acknowledged that Iran is a player. And that changes everything,” Carlson said, comparing the moment to the 1956 Suez Crisis, a conflict widely viewed by historians as a symbol of Britain’s declining global influence.
According to Carlson, the significance of the agreement extends beyond bilateral relations between Tehran and Washington. He argued that the inability of the United States to impose its will on Iran demonstrates broader changes in the international order.
Drawing historical parallels, Carlson noted that the Suez Crisis did not cause the collapse of the British Empire but rather exposed a decline that had already taken place.
