North Korea Condemns US-Japan Military Drill Warns of Regional Instability

North Korea has condemned the ongoing joint military exercise between the United States and Japan, accusing Tokyo of using the current global security situation to justify its transformation into what it described as a “war nation.” In an editorial published on Monday by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Pyongyang criticized Japan’s Self-Defense Force for taking part in the Resolute Dragon exercise alongside US Marines.
The Resolute Dragon drill, which began on June 20, is being held across Okinawa and Kyushu in southwestern Japan and is scheduled to conclude on Tuesday. North Korea claimed the exercises, conducted with support from US forces, were aimed at strengthening Japan’s “invasion capability.”
Pyongyang warned that the expanding military cooperation between the United States and Japan would increase insecurity and instability in the region. The latest criticism reflects North Korea’s continued opposition to joint military activities involving the US and its allies, which it regularly describes as a threat to regional peace.
