IRGC Says Six Suspected Militants Killed in Northwest Iran Operation

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Ground Force says it has dismantled an armed group during a security operation in the country’s northwestern border region, killing six suspected militants before they could carry out alleged attacks.

According to a statement issued by the IRGC’s Hamzeh Seyyed al-Shohada base, the group had entered Iran through the northwestern border with the intention of conducting what it described as sabotage and terrorist operations. The statement said IRGC forces intercepted the group in a pre-planned ambush.

The operation took place in the mountainous area between the cities of Mahabad and Piranshahr in Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province. The IRGC did not disclose the identities of those killed, and the claims have not been independently verified.
