Iran Army Chief Vows Continued Pursuit of “Justice” After Khamenei Assassination

Iran’s Army chief has said the country will not abandon its pursuit of “revenge” and justice following the assassination of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was martyred in a US-Israeli airstrike, according to Iranian state-aligned statements.

Major General Amir Hatami made the remarks during public funeral ceremonies held in Tehran, stating that those responsible for the attack would not be allowed to escape accountability. He said Iran’s leadership and people remain committed to what he described as a “definitive decision” to pursue justice until results are achieved.

The report said Ayatollah Khamenei, along with several family members and senior military commanders, was martyred in an attack targeting his office in Tehran on February 28, which Iranian officials have characterized as the opening of a broader US-Israeli military escalation. It also referenced subsequent Iranian military responses, including strikes on regional US assets and Israeli-occupied territories.
