Lebanese Cleric Praises Iran’s “Resistance” Role in Regional Stability

A senior Lebanese religious official has praised Iran’s stance against the United States and Israel, saying it has contributed to preventing wider instability in West Asia. Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, vice president of Lebanon’s Supreme Islamic Shia Council, made the remarks during a meeting in Tehran with Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

Al-Khatib expressed appreciation for Iran’s support for Lebanon, its resistance movement, and the Shia community, saying the Lebanese people would remember Tehran’s backing. He argued that Iran’s resistance to US and Israeli pressure has acted as a deterrent against broader regional escalation, and suggested that a weakened Iran would have allowed greater Israeli military expansion in the region.

He also referred to the impact of recent Israeli military operations in Lebanon, saying the country had experienced displacement, casualties, and destruction. Despite these challenges, he said the Lebanese people had shown resilience and unity in the face of ongoing regional tensions.
