Professor Says Ayatollah Khamenei’s Legacy Lives Through Institutionalized Resistance

As millions of mourners gathered in Tehran to bid farewell to the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, an Iranian academic said his most enduring legacy was transforming resistance from a revolutionary concept into a lasting institutional framework. Speaking to the media, University of Tehran professor Hakimeh Saghaye-Biria said the late Leader expanded the vision of resistance beyond Iran, shaping movements across the region and beyond.

Saghaye-Biria said that while Imam Khomeini laid the foundations of revolutionary Islamic resistance, Ayatollah Khamenei strengthened and institutionalized it within Iran before extending its influence internationally. She argued that his leadership established a systematic model of resistance that continues to inspire supporters across the Islamic world and other regions.

Millions of people from across Iran gathered at Tehran’s Grand Mosalla on Sunday to offer funeral prayers for the late Leader. Funeral ceremonies are set to continue with a procession in Tehran on Monday, after which his body is scheduled to be transferred to Qom, Najaf, and Karbala for additional funeral processions.
