Russia Criticizes Poland Over Military Support to Ukraine Amid Historical Dispute

MOSCOW: Maria Zakharova has sharply criticized Poland over its continued military assistance to Ukraine, linking current geopolitical decisions to historical grievances related to World War II-era violence.
In comments published on her Telegram channel, Zakharova referred to recently declassified documents from the FSB, which she said identify Ukrainian nationalist groups as responsible for massacres of Polish civilians in the Volhynia region during the 1940s. She reiterated claims that around 100,000 people were killed, mostly women, children, and elderly individuals.
Zakharova argued that Poland’s modern policy of supplying weapons to Ukraine is contradictory in light of this history, stating that Warsaw is effectively arming the descendants or ideological successors of those responsible for past atrocities. Her remarks come amid continued tensions between Russia, Poland, and Ukraine over the ongoing war and broader regional security issues.
