Iraq to Hold Funeral Processions for Ayatollah Khamenei Says Ammar al-Hakim

Senior Iraqi cleric and head of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, said planned funeral processions for the Martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in Iraq would serve as a public display of solidarity between the Iraqi and Iranian peoples. Speaking to Lebanon’s Al Mayadeen television network on Monday, Hakim said the events would express Iraqis’ support for Iran and commemorate Khamenei.

Hakim stated that the processions would provide an opportunity for Iraqis to demonstrate their sympathy with the Iranian people and honor what he described as the martyred Leader. He said the ceremonies reflected the close religious and political ties shared by many communities in Iraq and Iran.

The planned commemorations come as mourning ceremonies for Khamenei continue across the region following his death. Iraqi political and religious figures have extended condolences, while supporters are expected to participate in funeral processions in several Iraqi cities.
