Iranian Media Say 43 Million Attended Martyred Supreme Leader's Funeral
At least 41 to 43 million people took part in the six-day funeral ceremonies for Iran’s slain Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, according to Al Jazeera.
Iran’s Press TV described the funeral as “the largest procession the world has ever witnessed.” The ceremonies were held across five cities: Tehran, Qom, Najaf, Karbala, and Mashhad.
The official public funeral began last Saturday in Tehran, where tens of thousands of people gathered at the Grand Mosalla religious complex to pay their last respects. Khamenei’s coffin was placed on display as mourners attended the ceremony.
The funeral events continued for six days, with millions of people joining the processions in different cities before the ceremonies came to an end in Mashhad.
