353 Iranian Media Workers Martyred in Three Wars, Media Basij Chief Says

Head of Iran’s Media Basij Organization Morteza Karamouzian has said that 353 Iranian media workers have been martyred during three wars imposed on the country in 1980–1988, 2025 and earlier this year. He announced the figures on Sunday, saying the 1980–1988 Iraqi-imposed war claimed the lives of 333 Iranian media personnel.

Karamouzian said the illegal US-Israeli aggression against Iran in June 2025 killed 12 media workers, including two employees of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB). He added that eight more media personnel were martyred during the third imposed war, which began on February 28 following US and Israeli attacks and ended in early April after 40 days.

He further said that 268 media workers affiliated with the Resistance Front have also been martyred, including six who lost their lives during the third imposed war. Karamouzian said the figures reflected the heavy human cost borne by media personnel working during periods of conflict and military aggression.
