Yemeni Forces Target Saudi-Backed Mercenaries in Ta’izz Operation

Spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces Brigadier General Yahya Saree has said Yemeni military units carried out a large-scale operation against Saudi-backed forces in the southwestern province of Ta’izz, killing and wounding dozens of mercenaries. Saree said Yemeni forces targeted Saudi-sponsored troops and their weapons depots in the Red Sea port city of Mokha on Sunday using ballistic missiles and kamikaze drones, which he said precisely struck their designated targets and inflicted heavy losses.

Saree said the operation was conducted as the Saudi-backed forces were carrying out a major military buildup and preparing to launch attacks against Yemeni troops. He accused the mercenaries of continuing attacks along Yemen’s western coast, particularly in Ta’izz, as part of efforts to prevent Yemen from confronting what he described as a prolonged Saudi siege and aggression. He warned that Yemeni forces would continue monitoring troop movements and directly target military buildups threatening civilians and areas under their control.

The Yemeni military spokesman said Sana’a would maintain what he called a “siege for siege” policy and would respond to actions targeting the Yemeni population. His remarks came after the Sana’a government announced on July 20 that it had imposed a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia, accusing Riyadh of maintaining what it described as an unjust siege on Yemen for nearly 12 years and exploiting the country’s resources while enforcing a comprehensive blockade.
