Iran Condemns Israeli Aggression in Lebanon, Blames US for Support

11 August, 2026 17:49

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has strongly condemned the recent Israeli attacks on areas in southern Lebanon.

Baghaei said the attacks have killed and injured Lebanese citizens and caused damage to homes and infrastructure. He also accused Israel of continuing to violate Lebanon’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty.

“The silence and indifference of international institutions, particularly the UN Security Council, have emboldened the Israeli regime and enabled the continuation of its aggression and crimes,” Baghaei said.

He also criticized the United States for supporting Israel and accused Washington of being involved in Israel’s actions across the region.

“Because of its comprehensive support for the occupying regime, the US administration is considered an accomplice and partner in all of the Israeli regime’s crimes in Lebanon, occupied Palestine and the entire region,” he said.

Baghaei praised the Lebanese people for their “brave resistance and steadfastness” in facing Israeli attacks and occupation.

He said Iran stands in “full solidarity” with Lebanon and supports its efforts to protect its sovereignty, dignity and independence.

The latest Israeli attacks came only days after the seventh round of US-brokered talks between Lebanon and Israel ended in Rome without a major breakthrough. The talks were followed by Israel’s most intense artillery attacks on southern Lebanon since a framework agreement was signed in June.

Lebanon and Israel signed the agreement on June 26 with US mediation. It calls for a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied Lebanese territories. The process is linked to the Lebanese army taking full security control of areas evacuated by Israeli forces and the disarmament of armed groups, including Hezbollah.

Despite diplomatic efforts, Israeli attacks on Lebanon have continued, raising concerns about the future of the agreement.

According to official Lebanese figures, Israeli attacks have killed 4,335 people, injured more than 12,250 and displaced over one million people since March 2.
