Palestinian Officials Report More Than 5,400 Gaza Casualties Since Ceasefire

The Gaza Strip’s Ministry of Health says more than 5,400 Palestinians have been killed or wounded since the US-backed so-called “peace plan” and ceasefire process began in October 2025.

In its latest daily report on Tuesday, the ministry said 1,259 Palestinians had been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since US President Donald Trump launched the plan last year. Another 4,146 Palestinians have been wounded, bringing the total number of casualties to 5,405.

Israeli forces have continued carrying out attacks in Gaza despite the ceasefire process. Restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid have also remained in place.

Hebrew media reported this week that Israel had told Washington it would not stop its attacks on Gaza.

The latest developments come as disagreements continue over how Gaza will be governed under the US-sponsored agreement.

In early July, Hamas announced the dissolution of the resistance-led governing body that had administered Gaza for nearly two decades. The move was made under the terms of the US-sponsored agreement.

Hamas later said it was ready to transfer authority to a technocratic body. However, Israeli forces have prevented the body from entering Gaza and starting its work.

After the October 2025 agreement came into effect, Israel established what it called the “Yellow Line” inside Gaza. Under the ceasefire arrangement, the line was supposed to mark an initial area to which Israeli forces would withdraw.

Instead, Israeli forces have continued military operations and expanded their presence beyond the Yellow Line. They have also built permanent outposts around the area.

New satellite images reportedly show that Israel is constructing a large barrier inside Gaza that could divide parts of the territory.

Meanwhile, humanitarian aid entering Gaza remains at critically low levels, adding to the difficult conditions facing Palestinians in the besieged territory.
