One Killed in Sword Attack at Swedish High School

One person has been killed and three others injured in a sword attack at a high school in the central Swedish town of Fagersta, according to authorities. Police were called to Brinell School shortly after 14:00 local time on Friday, where officers arrested an 18-year-old man. Police said officers fired at the suspect before taking him into custody.

Two teenage boys were seriously injured in the attack, while another person sustained minor injuries. Eight other schools in the area were placed under lockdown as a precaution, though the measures have since been lifted. Authorities also declared a state of high alert in the Västmanland region following the incident.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was reportedly wearing a helmet and was described by local media as a former student of the school. Police said they were investigating the possible motive behind the attack and stressed that there was currently no danger to the wider public.
