Iranian Para Archer Somayeh Rahimi Wins Gold at World Archery Para Series

Iranian para archer Somayeh Rahimi has won the women’s individual recurve gold medal at the 2026 Hyundai World Archery Para Series in Ahmedabad, India, defeating China’s Liang Qiurong 6-2 in the final on Wednesday. The victory marked Rahimi Ghahderijani’s first individual World Para Series title at the third stage of the newly launched international circuit.

Rahimi advanced to the final after defeating India’s Bhawna in a semifinal decided by a shoot-off, while Liang secured her place in the title match with a 6-4 victory over India’s Rajshri Dhanraj Rathod. Rahimi had also impressed during qualification, finishing second with 602 points in the 72-arrow, 70-meter round. She further contributed to Iran’s medal tally by partnering with Mohadeseh Babahabib to win bronze in the women’s recurve doubles event after a 6-2 victory over Indonesia.

The Ahmedabad competition, held at the Sabarmati Riverfront from September 5 to 9, features 109 para archers from 19 countries competing in recurve, compound, W1 and visually impaired categories. It is the third stop of the 2026 Hyundai World Archery Para Series, following events in Bangkok and Czechia, and is serving as important preparation for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games in Japan later this year.
