Iran Tells US to End Intervention If It Truly Wants Peace

TEHRAN: Iran has rejected US accusations against Yemen’s Ansarullah, saying Washington must end its interventionist and hegemonic policies in the region if it genuinely wants to promote peace.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Ansarullah is an independent Yemeni organisation that makes its own decisions and does not take orders from any foreign country.

He rejected the description of Ansarullah as a proxy force, saying the group operates independently and determines its own policies.

Baghaei said American military intervention and hegemonic policies were among the main causes of instability in the region.

He argued that if Washington genuinely wanted peace, it should stop interventions that contribute to further instability.

The Iranian spokesman said lasting peace in Yemen could not be achieved through airstrikes or external pressure.

According to Baghaei, the way forward is meaningful negotiations based on a roadmap agreed upon by all sides involved in the Yemeni conflict.

Baghaei also strongly criticised the decision to refer Iran’s nuclear issue to the United Nations Security Council, describing the move as unjustified and unfair.

He maintained that Iran had not violated the relevant regulations and rejected efforts to portray Tehran as responsible for the current dispute.

The Iranian spokesman also criticised what he described as the conduct of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), arguing that the organisation should act impartially rather than taking positions that serve the interests of the United States and Israel.

Baghaei also questioned Japan’s decision to vote in favour of the resolution against Iran.

He pointed out that Japan itself had experienced the consequences of nuclear weapons attacks and argued that its support for a resolution against Iran represented a contradiction.

According to the Iranian spokesman, such actions undermine the foundations of the global nuclear non-proliferation system and raise further questions about the politicisation of international nuclear institutions.

Baghaei said the latest developments had further exposed what Tehran considers political bias within the international nuclear oversight system.

Iran continues to maintain that its nuclear programme is subject to international safeguards and that diplomatic engagement, rather than political pressure and military intervention, remains the appropriate path for resolving regional and nuclear disputes.
