Pezeshkian: US Seeks to Turn Muslim Neighbors Against Each Other

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Tehran has no problem with its Muslim neighbors, accusing the United States of seeking to turn friendly and brotherly countries in the region against one another. Speaking during a meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in India, Pezeshkian said regional instability was being fueled by the hegemonic policies of the US and Europe and Israel’s actions. He stressed that Iran would continue strengthening relations with neighboring and Muslim countries on the basis of mutual respect and long-term cooperation.

Referring to the recent US-Israeli military aggression against Iran, Pezeshkian said Iran had been attacked without justification and suffered the deaths of its Leader, children, commanders and scientists. He said attacks launched from neighboring territory had compelled Tehran to defend itself and strike military bases involved in the attacks. At the same time, the Iranian president emphasized that Tehran does not seek war or its continuation, rejecting the idea of foreign powers acting as security guarantors in the region. He argued that regional countries themselves should safeguard the region’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and security.

Anwar Ibrahim strongly condemned the US and Israeli attacks on Iran and reaffirmed Malaysia’s support for Tehran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He praised the resilience of the Iranian government and people, saying Iran had continued to stand firm despite the intensity of the attacks. The Malaysian prime minister also welcomed closer Iran-Malaysia relations, particularly in trade, economic cooperation and education, signaling Kuala Lumpur’s support for deeper engagement with Tehran and greater cooperation among Muslim countries.
