Trump: Oil Prices to Fall Sharply After Iran War Ends

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has said oil prices will fall sharply once the war in Iran ends, while expressing confidence that issues related to the Strait of Hormuz and Saudi Arabia will be resolved. Trump also suggested that Iran may have been involved in an attack on a Saudi oil pipeline, without providing further details. He described Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as a “good friend” and said he expected the situation with Riyadh to be resolved.

Trump also claimed that Yemen’s Ansarullah (Houthi) movement does not want a confrontation with the United States. According to the US president, the Houthis had contacted Washington and indicated that they did not want to fight or face further American military action. Trump said the group had made clear its desire to avoid a conflict with the United States.

On Gaza, Trump claimed that the United States had done “a very good job,” without elaborating on the statement. His remarks come amid continuing regional tensions involving Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
