US Limits Air Defense Hours for Tankers in Strait of Hormuz
The United States has limited the hours of air defence coverage for oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to a British newspaper, the US has instructed oil tankers to travel through the Strait during specific hours after an increase in attacks on commercial vessels by Iran at night.
The report said the US previously provided overnight air protection to vessels passing through the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz. Since the beginning of September, the US maritime coordination centre has set two specific time periods for air defence coverage.
According to the report, ships have been advised to travel during these hours to receive more effective security protection. US Central Command said messages issued by the maritime coordination centre explain the matter.
