Trump Says Houthis Seek US Non-Intervention as Yemen Conflict Escalates

US President Donald Trump has said the Houthis have contacted Washington and asked the United States not to intervene in the ongoing conflict against Yemen’s internationally recognised government. The development comes as Iran-aligned Houthi forces continue to expand their control in Yemen, raising concerns about further instability in the region.

The Houthis have reportedly seized full control of Yemen’s Red Sea coast following a rapid advance against government forces. In response, Yemen’s government forces launched a series of air strikes along the western coast in an effort to push back the Houthi advance. The developments are particularly significant because the Red Sea is a major international shipping route and any prolonged conflict in the area could increase regional and maritime security concerns.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has suspended operations on its crucial East-West oil pipeline as a precaution after the facility was targeted by drones launched from Iraq. Riyadh has so far avoided immediate retaliation, giving Iraqi authorities time to take steps to prevent further attacks.

At the same time, Iran is expected to hold talks with Gulf states in Oman on Monday to discuss the Strait of Hormuz. The meeting is aimed at promoting regional security and addressing growing concerns surrounding the strategically important waterway.
