04 March, 2024 14:30

Asif Ali Zardari, the presidential candidate of Pakistan People’s Party, has contacted MQM Pakistan leader  Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui to seek support.

Asif Ali Zardari telephoned MQM Pakistan’s Khalid Maqbool and discussed political issues.

Both the leaders discussed the presidential elections, political situation and the Sindh affairs.

Meanwhile, the nomination papers of Asif Zardari for the presidential elections have been approved.

The nomination papers for the presidential candidate of former president and Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari were submitted in the Islamabad High Court, which have been approved after scrutiny.

The Chief Election Commissioner, who is Returning Officer of the presidential elections, approved the papers of the former president after scrutiny.

PPP leader Farooq H. Naik said that no objection was raised on the nomination papers of Asif Zardari and his papers were approved as the presidential candidate.

Sources said that PPP’s nominated presidential candidate Asif Ali Zardari requested votes from MQM, to which Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui assured him that he would respond soon after consultation.

It should be remembered that two days ago when Farooq Sattar, a MQM-P member of National Assembly, was asked whether his party would vote for Asif Ali Zardari in the presidential election, he replied that PPP had not yet contacted him.

Whenever, the PPP would approach the MQM-P for support, we will seek accountability for the last past 15 years, he continued.
