18th death anniversary of Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan being observed today (Sunday).

Pakistanis remember known as ‘Baba-e-Jamhooriat’ for his services he rendered for the restoration of democracy in the country.

Nasrullah Khan spent his entire life in struggle to strengthen the parliamentary democracy in Pakistan.

Baba-e-Jamhooriat passed away on 26th September 2003 following a heart attack at the age of 85.

He is buried at Khangarh in Muzaffargarh district.

Born on 13th November 1916 in Khangarh, Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan joined active politics in 1930.

First he joined Majlis-e-Ahrar-ul-Islam to struggle against the British Raj in the subcontinent.

He was elected as the Secretary General of All India Majlis-e-Ahrar-ul-Islam in 1945.

After Pakistan came into being, he joined the Muslim League.

Later, he founded his own party and also co led opposition parties alliances.

He also served as elected member of the Punjab and the National assemblies.

Prior to his demise, he was leading a peaceful struggle against General Pervez Musharraf-led regime.

However, his own Pakistan Democratic Party could not enjoy popularity like he did.
