Govt claims Rs72bn disbursed among 5.9m people amid public complaints vice versa.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Poverty Alleviation Dr. Sania Nishtar said the government has, so far, disbursed Rs 72 billion among 5.9 million beneficiaries under Ehsaas Emergency Programme across the country.

Govt claims Rs72bn disbursed

She said this while talking to PTV tonight programme.

But many people have shared their experience with the media which amounts to contest government claim.

Specially, complainants ask whom government is paying under this scheme.

Unskilled labour and daily wagers have to stay at homes.

Many rickshaw drivers and factory workers told GTV Network that police don’t allow to travel.

And they have to stay at homes without money.

And when they sent SMS to seek help under Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme, that too don’t help them.

But Dr Sania Nishtar said government has already launched Ehsaas Emergency Cash Information Portal where any person can get information regarding number of families benefiting from the programme as well as the total amount disbursed at district and tehsil levels.

She said the portal will outline the amounts given to partnering banks for disbursements to beneficiaries, and the number of beneficiaries who have taken out money.

She said all offices of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) will start this week for disbursement of monetary assistance under the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme and to resolve issues pertaining to biometric identification.
