Waiving off demurrage to late staying ships awaits cabinet ratification, minister told the PM.

 

In this connection, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi apprised Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Along with Chairman Habib Bank Sultan Ali Allana, he called on PM Khan in Islamabad today.

Zaidi said Economic Coordination Committee approved to waive off demurrage to late staying ships.

The decision now awaits federal cabinet’s ratification. It will provide relief to ships till 31st of this month.

He gave a briefing to the Prime Minister on the matters of his ministry especially the situation arising out of coronavirus.

The Minister for Maritime Affairs also briefed PM on issues of ports and other allied affairs.

He also apprised the Prime Minister of keeping the national ports operational despite difficult situation due to coronavirus and closure of many regional ports.

Meanwhile, Sultan Ali Allana complimented the Prime Minister to present the largest economic package in the history of the country in order to provide relief to the people in the context of coronavirus situation.

He congratulated the Prime Minister on running Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program on transparency and merit.

The PM appreciated the services and assistance of Habib Bank in delivering Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme to deserving people.
