Shah Mahmood says bifurcated South Punjab secretariat a big step towards devolution of power.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi expressed these view in a video message on Thursday.

He noted the decision of Punjab government to divide South Punjab Civil Secretariat into two parts, based in Multan and Bahawalpur, a big step towards devolution of power.

Qureshi said the decision would facilitate people of the area in resolution of their administrative matters at local level.

Furthermore, he said Additional Secretary South Punjab and Additional Inspector General South Punjab would soon be taking charge of their offices.

He cited Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar properly told about their expectations.

He said the districts would get funds as per their population and needs after the implementation of Provincial Finance Award in line with decision of cabinet.

“Now, the funds of South Punjab will be spent within the province and no one will be allowed to use it in another head,” he said.

Qureshi expressed confidence that the people of South Punjab would now get justice at their doorsteps.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshisaid oppression and barbarism in Indian Occupied Kashmir had crossed all limits.

He called upon the international community and human rights watchdogs to take notice of the worsening situation in the Valley.

The foreign minister mentioned Wednesday’s incident of killing a man in front of this three-year-old grandson in Occupied Kashmir, saying the painful event was an eye-opener for the world.
