President calls for ensuring secrecy and transparency in the internet voting process.

Dr Arif Alvi expressed these remarks while chairing a meeting to review progress on the EVS in Islamabad today (Tuesday).

President calls for ensuring secrecy

The president asked the authorities concerned to ensure secrecy of vote and transparency in the Internet-voting process while developing electronic voting system.

Officials concerned briefed him on the steps they are taking for establishing an effective and reliable I-Voting system for overseas Pakistanis.

They apprised on taking all measures for the development of a fool-proof voting system.

Meanwhile, President Alvi said that I-voting system should be transparent and people should have complete confidence in it.

Earlier, he chaired a meeting on E-commerce to review the action plan with regard to implementation of E-commerce policy in the country.

He underlined E-commerce promotion as highly essential for strengthening economy of the country.

President said e-commerce provide access to distant markets, reduce cost of doing business and create employment opportunities.

President Alvi said it offered huge opportunities for small and medium enterprises that connected them with Pakistani online markets and international markets through global E-commerce platforms.

Concerned officials briefed the meeting on the E-commerce initiatives and their role in economic development of the country.
