China supports greater role of Gwadar Port in in regional trade cooperation.

In Beijing, Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Zhao Lijian said this during a media briefing today.

He reiterated full support of China to the Gwadar Port’s project for its greater role in the regional cooperation on trade and goods transition.

Furthermore, he expressed Chinese gladness to see the new progress since China supports the greater role of the port, an important component of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Zhao Lijain noted that facts have proven that China -Pakistan Economic Corridor has not only delivering benefits to Chinese and Pakistani people but has also facilitated the regional connectivity and economic cooperation.

He expressed confidence that with efforts from all parties, the CPEC will surely play a more positive role to help promote prosperity in the region.

The international transit activities have started with arrival of first fish cargo at the Gwadar port for onward shipment to China.

In the coming days, more vessels containing international cargo, including LPG, steel pipes, DAP fertilizer for transit to Afghanistan scheduled to arrive at the Gwadar Port.

Lijain shared his personal experience during his posting as deputy head of mission at the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad.

He said He also had visited the Gwadar port for six times.

“From its building and use, I am quite impressed by the achievements in the Gwadar Port.”
