Amir reveals detail of on pitch exchange with Babar
Quetta Gladiators pacer Mohammad Amir once again crossed paths with his former teammate Babar Azam, when his side face Peshawar Zalmi on Sunday during the HBL Pakistan Super League season nine (PSL9).
The anticipated battle once again lived up to the hype where Babar punched Amir straight down the ground for a boundary, with the pacer responding it with a well-directed shot ball.
After the conclusion of game, Amir appeared before the media for post-match presser, where he shed light on this crossover.
“We didn’t talk a lot. He [Babar] is a good player,” said Amir with a smile on his face in Lahore. “My role is to get the batter out with the new ball.”
“I actually bowled him a bouncer and he said that the ball had skidded off the pitch and he couldn’t read it. I think he played a good innings and his wicket was the turning point of the match,” he added.
Quetta Gladiators had the better of Peshawar Zalmi after posting a massive 207-run target. In reply the Zalmi were restricted to 190-6 in their 20 overs.
Saim Ayub and Babar Azam provided a solid start, but latter batters failed to capitalize on that.
The duo amassed 70 off the powerplay and over all made a 91-run opening stand, which came to an end as captain Railee Rossouw ran out Saim (42, 26b, 2x4s, 3x6s).
Returning to competitive cricket after an injury, Abrar bowled a tight spell giving away 29 runs and bagging two prized scalps. Amir, Hosein and Hasnain bagged one wicket each in Quetta’s 16-run victory.
