Gilani family sets a new record in Pakistani politics

Four brothers of Gilani family set a new record by becoming members of the national and provincial assembles.
With the success of PPP candidate Syed Ali Qasim Gilani in the NA-148 Multan by-election, another unique record in the history of Pakistan has been made as three Gilani brothers have become members of the National Assembly and while fourth has won a Punjab Assembly seat.
Syed Ali Qasim’s two brothers, Syed Ali Musa Gilani and Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani, are members of the National Assembly, while one brother Syed Ali Haider Gilani is a member of the Punjab Assembly, thus Yusuf Raza Gilani himself became a senator and his four sons became members of the National and Punjab Assembly.
Ali Qasim Gilani, son of Chairman Senate Yousuf Raza Gilani, has regained the NA-148 seat vacated by his father.
At one point in the previous assembly, no member of the family was member of any assembly.
