PDMA issues warning ahead of monsoon rains in Karachi

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued warning to the concerned authorities amid the upcoming monsoon season in Karachi.
According to PDMA Director General Salman Shah, the rainfall is expected to happen more than before.
The Karachi commissioner had held a meeting of the concerned departments amid the warning from PDMA.
“Rainfall of more than 100 percent is expected in the current year from July to August,” Shah said. “29 out of 198 slope areas are sensitive in Karachi.”
The Karachi commissioner has asked the concerned authorities to prepare an emergency plan in line with the potential rainfall in the mega-city.
“The city would have to bear losses if the concerned institutions did not prepare themselves to deal with any emergency situation,” the Karachi commissioner said.
