Three more retired officer in connection with the Field General Court Martial (FGCM) proceedings of former Lieutenant General Faiz Hamid have been taken into military custody, ISPR said Thursday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the retired officers were arrested for their actions prejudicial to military discipline.

“Further investigations of certain retired officers and their accomplices for fomenting instability at the behest of and in collusion with vested political interests are continuing,” it also said.

Earlier, former intelligence chief Lt General (retd) Faiz Hameed was taken into military custody on Monday.

“Complying with the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan, a detailed court of inquiry, was undertaken by Pakistan Army, to ascertain correctness of complaints in Top City Case made against Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed,” the military’s media wing had said.

“Consequently, appropriate disciplinary action has been initiated against Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd), under provisions of Pakistan Army Act.”

“In addition, multiple instances of violation of Pakistan Army Act post retirement have also been established. The process of Field General Court Martial has been initiated and Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd) has been taken into military custody,” the ISPR further said.

A high-level inquiry committee led by a major general was established by the Pakistan Army earlier in April of this year to investigate the claims made against Lt-Gen (retd) Faiz about his alleged misuse of power while serving as the director general of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

According to those familiar with the development, the inquiry was launched in compliance with Supreme Court instructions and in light of Ministry of Defence guidelines.

Against Gen. Faiz, who resigned in November 2022, four months ahead of his retirement date, this is the first official investigation that has been requested.

The petition

The petition filed by in the Supreme Court stated that on May 12, 2017, on the behest of Gen Faiz, ISI officials raided the top city office and his house.
