India’s FM Jaishankar arrives in Islamabad ahead of SCO summit

Indian Minister for External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has arrived in Islamabad to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.

This is the first visit by any Indian foreign minister in nearly a decade.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is set to host the summit of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) today and tomorrow (Tuesday and Wednesday).

In this connection, stringent arrangements to ensure the event proceeds smoothly have been made. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will chair the high-level meeting.

The meeting will be attended by the prime ministers and high-ranking officials from the SCO member states, including Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and the Iran’s first vice president.

On the other hand, strict security arrangements have been made on the eve of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference being held in the federal capital.

In view of tight security in Islamabad, all roads leading to Red Zone have been closed. Park Road has been closed at Bani Gala and Rawal Dam Chowk from Club Road.

According to the traffic police, Faisal Avenue at Faizabad and from IJP Road to I-8, Kashmir Highway to Convention Center and Bara Kahu to Murree Road have been closed.
