Smog may cause deaths; experts ring alarm bells
Medical experts have expressed fear of deaths due to smog and said that if AQI remains polluted, there is a risk of reducing the average life by 4 years.
According to the details, the smog is intensifying in Lahore and the lives of Lahoreites are in danger due to the worst air pollution.
The experts termed the smog as more dangerous this year and said that if the AQI of Lahore remains high, the average life expectancy will decrease by 4 years and there is also a risk of death.
Public Health Specialist Dr. Munir Malik said that due to the presence of toxic substances, chemicals and particles in the air, hundreds of patients are being reported in hospitals with ear, nose and throat problems.
Dr. Munir further said that lung and respiratory diseases are spreading due to air pollution. Due to sulfur and carbon there is a risk of cancer including heart diseases, heart and respiratory patients should not leave their homes, he added.
Explaining the cause of air pollution, he said that 83 per cent of the toxic gases present are vehicle smoke.
