KP Governor Prioritizes Counterterrorism, Pledges Modern Weapons for Police

Kundi described the province’s recent political situation as a “circus” and claimed that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had brought it to an end. He further asserted that residents had rejected what he described as 13 years of hardship. The governor said the administration’s foremost priority would be the fight against terrorism and restoring peace across the province.
The governor pledged to provide modern weapons and equipment to the police and other law enforcement agencies to strengthen their capacity to combat terrorism. He also stated that government policies would come from Islamabad, emphasizing the federal government’s role in the province’s administration under the current arrangement.
The governor urged doctors to end their strike, saying their demands would be addressed, and pledged that the province’s case would be taken up with the federal government through collective efforts. He said there would be no compromise on providing weapons to police personnel and vowed to stand alongside the families of security personnel who had lost their lives. Kundi also disclosed that approximately 17,000 posts in the provincial police department were vacant and expressed hope that the president and prime minister would visit the province to help resolve its problems.
Kundi said the administration would seek to demonstrate within three months the performance he attributed to the previous 13 years. He warned that disorder and intimidation would not be tolerated and that anyone involved in vandalism would be dealt with in accordance with the law. Reiterating his commitment to improving governance and security, the governor said the government would work to address public concerns and strengthen law enforcement across the province.
