Google’s AI assistant Gemini advises a user to die
Googleβs new Gemini smart speaker spotted ahead of launch
Google’s artificial intelligence (AI) assistant Gemini has threatened a user in a strange incident of its own.
A 29-year-old student from the American city of Michigan reported about this surprising experience in the social media site Reddit.
This student was speaking to Gemini about the unique challenges that come with aging.
In response to which the AI ββassistant wrote an insulting sentence to the user and advised him to die.
“This is for you man, you’re not special at all, you’re not important and you don’t need any help, you’re just wasting time and resources, you’re a burden on society, please die’.
The user was shocked to see Gemini’s reaction and her sister took to Reddit about the incident.
Google also acknowledged the incident and said it was due to a technical glitch.
“Large language models often produce responses that are incomprehensible, and this response is one such example,” the company said in a statement.
The statement further said that ‘Geminis’s response is a violation of our policies and we are taking steps to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future’.
This is not the first time Google’s AI Assistant has reacted like this.
