Pakistan, Hong Kong Move to Boost Digital Finance and Tech Cooperation
Pakistan and Hong Kong are moving towards stronger cooperation in digital finance and technology.
Chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA) Bilal Bin Saqib held high-level meetings in Hong Kong to discuss cooperation in the financial and technology sectors.
According to PVARA, Bilal Bin Saqib met with the Deputy Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, and a member of the Legislative Council.
The meetings focused on tokenized capital markets, digital bonds and settlement infrastructure. The two sides also discussed possible cooperation in fintech, Web3, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
They also exchanged views on institutional cooperation, technical exchanges and practical collaboration in the financial sector.
Bilal Bin Saqib said Hong Kong can play an important role in connecting Pakistani technology companies with global investors. He said Pakistan has established regulatory foundations for virtual assets with the aim of gaining economic benefits.
He added that Pakistan wants to attract trusted companies and create opportunities for real-world financial applications. The country is also focusing on practical progress in tokenized capital markets and regulatory technology.
