City of sit-ins: Karachi suffers worst traffic congestion amid protests
The city of Karachi is experiencing severe traffic congestion due to ongoing protest sit-ins by religious groups and New Year’s celebrations.
According to GTV, protests related to the Parachinar issue are being held by two religious parties across various areas of the city. At the same time, the influx of people participating in New Year’s events has further exacerbated the situation, disrupting traffic flow.
- Abu al-Hasan Isfahani Road (Abbas Town) – Total road closure.
- Nawab Siddiq Ali Khan Road (Nazimabad No. 1) – Both sides closed to traffic.
- Kamran Chowrangi to Mausamiyat Road – Road blocked. Note: Traffic from Mausamiyat to Kamran Chowrangi is being routed in a double lane.
- Numaish Chowrangi – Road completely blocked.
- Ancholi to Shahrah-e-Pakistan towards Sohrab Goth – Closed for traffic.
- Main Manghopir Road (Habib Bank Chowrangi to Waleeka Hospital) – Closed for traffic.
- Business Recorder Road (Lasbela towards Guru Mandir) – Both directions blocked.
- Gul Bai (Towards Pracha Chowk) – Road blocked.
- Shahrah-e-Faisal (Baloch Colony towards City Service Road) – Closed for traffic.
- Shahrah-e-Liaqut Road (Fresco Chowk) – Road completely closed.
- Main University Road (Near Famous Bakery towards Safora) – Closed for traffic.
- Nagan Chowrangi (Bus Stop towards Sakhi Hassan & Sohrab Goth) – Traffic blocked.
- Main University Road (Nazim-ul-Ala Cut) – Both roads shut down.
- Shahrah-e-Orangi Town (Metro towards Poni 5) – Blocked for traffic.
- Qaidaabad (Murghi Khana towards Malir) – Completely blocked for traffic.
- Tower Chowk (Jailani Center) – Road closed.
