Update on Sugar Prices For Ramadan 2025

In an effort to ease the financial burden on consumers during the holy month of Ramazan, the federal government has decided to provide a significant subsidy of Rs 20 per kilogram on sugar prices across Pakistan.

As part of this initiative, the price of sugar will be fixed at Rs 130 per kilogram during Ramazan 2025 in all four provinces.

The Ministry of Industry and Production has already communicated the decision to the chief secretaries of all provinces, and a formal letter has been sent to the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PSMA) to ensure that sugar prices are maintained at Rs 130 per kilogram throughout the month of fasting.

Where to Buy Subsidized Sugar?

During Ramazan, subsidized sugar will be available for purchase at designated model bazaars set up by the government. The sale will begin three days before the start of the holy month and will continue until the 27th of Ramazan.

The PSMA will be responsible for ensuring a steady supply of sugar at these Ramazan bazaars across the country.

Ramazan 2025 in Pakistan

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has scheduled a meeting on February 28 for the moon sighting of Ramazan 2025.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the new moon marking the beginning of Ramazan will occur at 5:45 PM Pakistan Standard Time on February 28.

“Astronomical parameters of new moon and average cloud amounts at Pilot Balloon Observatories of Pakistan Meteorological Department are attached herewith,” it said.

According to astronomical parameters, the Met Office said there is “No Chance of sighting the new moon of Ramzan 1446 AH on the evening of 28-02-2025 i.e on 29th Shaban 1446”.

As per this forecast, the first day of fasting (Roza) for Ramazan 2025 will fall on Sunday, March 2. Muslims around the world observe Ramazan with great devotion, marking it as a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection.
