‘US weapons left in Afghanistan serious problem for peace in region’

The Foreign Office has said that talks on the security situation with the United States are continuing, adding if America takes its abandoned weapons from Afghanistan, it will restore peace in the region.
Spokesman Shafqat Ali Khan told reporters during his weekly briefing that US weapons left in Afghanistan are a serious problem for the peace situation in the region.
He said that Pakistan wants good neighbourly relations with Afghanistan, but Afghanistan’s soil is being used for terrorism in Pakistan. Pakistan has been repeatedly demanding the Afghan government in this regard, he added.
The spokesperson said that the Torkham border has been closed due to the construction of posts in the disputed area by Afghan forces. Pakistan condemns the chaos on the Torkham border and calls on the Afghan interim government to seriously resolve the issue.
He further said that Afghanistan tried to build two border posts on the Pak-Afghan border on the Pakistani side and every time they refused, they also fired towards Pakistan. These Afghan activities have resulted in the closure of the Pak-Afghan border. We strongly reject Afghanistan’s allegations of ISIS camps in Pakistan, he added.
