COAS Asim Munir praises troops for repelling Bannu attack

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir visited Bannu on Wednesday, days after security forces repelled a terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment on March 4.

According to the ISPR, during the visit, the army chief was briefed on the ongoing security operations and the overall situation in the area.

He also visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Bannu to inquire about the injured soldiers, commending their resilience and dedication. General Munir lauded the high morale of the troops and reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to combating terrorism for the country’s stability and security.

Expressing condolences over the loss of innocent civilian lives in the attack, the COAS assured that while the attackers were neutralized on the spot, their planners and facilitators would also be brought to justice.

He condemned the targeting of civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, and emphasized national unity as crucial in the fight against terrorism.

Addressing the troops, General Munir praised their swift and decisive action in foiling the attack.

He reiterated that operations against terrorist elements and their facilitators, allegedly acting on behalf of hostile forces, would continue until the threat was completely eradicated.

The army chief also highlighted the presence of terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil and pointed to the use of foreign weapons in recent attacks as evidence of external involvement.

He warned that Pakistan would not allow any entity to destabilize its peace.

Upon his arrival in Bannu, the COAS was received by Corps Commander Peshawar
