Eid ul-Fitr 2025: When Is Eid In Saudi Arabia? Check
Saudi astronomers predict that the Shawwal moon may be visible on the evening of Saturday, March 29, suggesting Eidul Fitr may be on Sunday, March 30.
According to Arab media reports, the new moon is expected to appear at 2:00 PM on March 29 and remain visible for about eight minutes after sunset. However, the International Astronomy Centre has stated that spotting the Shawwal crescent on this date may not be possible in most Arab and Islamic countries. Experts suggest that the moon will set before the sun, making visibility difficult.
Similarly, Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) noted that at sunset in Makkah, the moon will be around five hours old, which is considered insufficient for clear sighting. Given these factors, the likelihood of confirming the moon’s sighting on March 29 remains low.
Since Islamic months can last either 29 or 30 days, Shawwal is expected to begin on either March 30 or March 31, depending on the final moon sighting decision.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has announced a four-day holiday for private sector employees and non-profit organizations. The holiday will commence at the end of the workday on Saturday, March 29, in accordance with labor regulations.
