Sikandar Movie Review & Box Office Day 1: Salman Khan’s Film Earns ₹11 Cr
Salman Khan’s much-anticipated film Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss, hit theaters on March 30, a day before Eid-ul-Fitr. The action-packed film, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, stars Rashmika Mandanna alongside Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, and Prateik Babbar in key roles. Despite the immense buzz surrounding the film, reviews have been mixed.
The opening day box office collection for Sikandar in India is estimated at ₹26 crore net across all languages, with a Hindi occupancy rate of 21.60% on Sunday. While the domestic earnings are among the lower opening figures for a Salman Khan Eid release, the film reportedly collected ₹54 crore worldwide on its first day.
Adding to its challenges, Sikandar became a victim of online piracy soon after its release. Meanwhile, the film is facing competition from Mohanlal’s Empuraan at the box office.
When asked about the clash, Salman expressed admiration for Mohanlal and director Prithviraj Sukumaran, stating that Empuraan is an excellent film. In a lighthearted remark, he jokingly urged multinational companies to provide salary bonuses so audiences could watch Empuraan, Sikandar, and Jaat, which is set to release on April 10.
This film marks Salman Khan’s first collaboration with AR Murugadoss, with the superstar reprising his trademark action-hero persona. Speaking about the challenges of performing action sequences at this stage in his career, Salman candidly revealed that he has suffered multiple fractures and ligament injuries over the years.
With strong fan anticipation and a global presence, Sikandar is expected to witness growth in the coming days despite its mixed reception.
