A motorcyclist was injured after being hit by a dumper near Power House Chowrangi in North Karachi area, after which angry people burnt several dumpers.

An eyewitness to the North Karachi Power House Chowrangi accident said the dumper driver was a 17-18-year-old boy, who was racing.

Eyewitnesses said that people stopped and beat the dumper driver who was running the race. The driver ran the dumper on the motorcycles in an attempt to escape, due to which two motorcycles were destroyed but there was no loss of life.

However, a man riding a motorcycle was injured.

Nine vehicles were set on fire by the protesters.

Earlier in February, the Sindh government has banned the unregistered vehicles on the road.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, senior provincial minister Sharjeel Memon said that people used to complain that number plates are not issued by the excise department, but the excise department has 80,000 number plates which people have not raised.

He said that the water board has issued bar codes to water tankers, which will check the fitness of the vehicle, such water tankers which are not registered will be stopped, tankers on which the water board does not have a barcode will not be allowed.

Sharjeel Memon said that it would be mandatory for heavy traffic to have a fitness certificate from the Sindh government, but heavy traffic has been given time for fitness certificate, heavy traffic coming from other provinces must also get a fitness certificate from Sindh.
