Punjab Teacher Dress Code: New Regulations for Male and Female

The Punjab School Education Department has directed teachers in government schools to observe a new dress code. The goal is to promote professionalism and uphold cultural values in schools. The policy is similar to the one recently announced in Sindh.

Dress Code Guidelines for Teachers

For Male Teachers

• They are not allowed to wear jeans or T-shirts.
• They are expected to wear proper clothing that reflects a professional and culturally respectful appearance.

For Female Teachers

• They should avoid wearing heavy makeup, high heels, and costly jewelry.
• It is recommended that they wear shalwar kameez along with a dupatta or hijab to reflect cultural norms and professionalism.

The department has stated that all teachers must strictly adhere to the new regulations. Action will be taken against those who breach the dress code. Private schools are also encouraged to apply the same dress standards to their staff.

This decision is meant to set a good example for students and promote discipline in schools. However, some teachers and members of the public have raised concerns, arguing that such rules may limit personal freedom and may be hard to follow.
