Coleen Campbell batters woman with hammer

A woman named Coleen Campbell was involved in a shocking hammer attack on another woman – just days before helping plan the murder of her ex-husband.

The attack happened on June 29, 2022, in Tameside, Greater Manchester. Coleen, along with three others – Hannah Derbyshire, Chloe Bamford, and Simon Bowden – attacked a woman on the street. The violence started over a love triangle involving Derbyshire and the victim.

Coleen was driving when they spotted the woman. CCTV showed Derbyshire kicking and hitting the victim. Bowden, who had a long drill bit, joined the attack and pulled a mask over his face. Coleen then hit the woman several times with a hammer, causing her to fall.

The group kept attacking for around 90 seconds before running back to the car. Coleen also stole the victim’s handbag, which was later found in her home.

All four attackers pleaded guilty to violent disorder. Coleen also admitted to stealing. She and Bowden got 18 months in jail. The two women with them received suspended sentences.

A week later, Coleen helped plan the murder of her ex-husband, Thomas Campbell. She shared information about his location and even chatted with one of the killers for 25 minutes in her garden. They put a tracker on Thomas’s car to watch his movements.

On July 2, 2022, three men attacked Thomas at his home. He was dragged inside and tortured for two hours – beaten, stabbed, burned with boiling water, and left to die. He had 61 injuries when his body was found the next day.

Coleen was jailed for 13 years for manslaughter. Two men involved were also jailed, and another will face trial soon.
