Sharon Annoscia Shares Harrowing Ordeal of Domestic Abuse After Relationship Turns Violent

Sharon Annoscia, 53, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, has spoken out about the “living nightmare” she endured during a three-year abusive relationship with 41-year-old Polish builder Lucasz Janiec. After meeting him while he worked on a neighbour’s home, Sharon—still grieving the loss of her husband—thought she’d found love again. But things soon took a dark turn.

“I thought I met the man of my dreams,” Sharon shared. “I let my heart rule my head.” Janiec came into the relationship with nothing, while Sharon was financially secure. Promises of support and a future together were quickly replaced with alcohol abuse, manipulation, and control.

Over time, Sharon noticed money and possessions vanishing—her £12,000 savings drained. “I cut off his supply by hiding everything and that’s when it all went south,” she recalled. The verbal abuse escalated: “You’re worthless and nobody will want you” became a regular threat.

Eventually, the abuse turned physical. “I’d wake up after he knocked me out, with his foot on my head and a cord around my neck,” she said. Too ashamed to seek help, she took time off work and lived in fear.

The final assault, overheard by a neighbour, led to Janiec’s arrest and a 17-week jail sentence. Now, with his release approaching in June, Sharon is desperate to relocate and start over. “I need to get out of this house… anything would be a blessing.”

Sharon Annoscia is now fundraising online, determined to rebuild her life and raise awareness about domestic abuse.
