Who is Joe Thompson’s wife, Chantelle Perry?
The club released a heartfelt statement, expressing their deepest condolences to his wife, Chantelle Perry, and their two daughters during this devastating time.
Joe and Chantelle married in 2016 after years of dating, building a life together despite the relentless challenges posed by his health. Chantelle, a beauty entrepreneur and founder of Perriee Spa in Prestwich, stood unwaveringly by Joe’s side through his multiple cancer battles.
In an emotional Instagram post, Chantelle shared:
“Our brave and courageous Joey passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning, at home where he wanted to be, surrounded by his family. He fought with all his might, did things HIS way, and grew closer to God each day while still being there for so many others.”
She described Joe as the “most incredible husband, son, brother, friend, and father”, vowing to keep his legacy alive through their daughters.
How many children did Joe Thompson have with Chantelle Perry?
Joe and Chantelle welcomed their first child, Thailula-Lily, in 2014, just a year after his first cancer diagnosis (Hodgkin lymphoma). Despite remission, the disease returned in 2017, and tragically, a third time in 2024.
Joe often spoke about how his family gave him strength, calling his daughter his “motivation through dark times” and joking that she saw him as “Superman.” In a touching 2019 interview, he recalled how, on the day of his diagnosis, Thailula-Lily “instinctively knew something was wrong” and refused to sleep unless the family stayed together on the sofa.
Joe began his career at Manchester United’s academy before playing for Rochdale, Tranmere, and Carlisle. He retired at 29 in 2019, prioritizing his health and family. Despite his illness, he remained a source of inspiration, raising awareness for cancer charities and mentoring young players.
