Turkish Influencer Accuses Maria B of Withholding Payment After Collaboration

23 April, 2025 12:29

Renowned Pakistani fashion designer Maria B is facing backlash after Turkish influencer Turkan Atay publicly accused the brand of not paying her for a recent collaboration.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Turkan revealed that despite completing a brand shoot over three months ago, she has still not been paid. She said that repeated attempts to contact Maria B’s team went unanswered.

“This is not a matter of money from now, this is a matter of self-respect,” she wrote, stressing that the issue is now about dignity and the treatment of content creators who hold up their end of agreements.

Turkan also mentioned that she had previously collaborated with the brand without compensation, but this time the deal was clear — payment was part of the agreement. To support her claims, she posted screenshots of conversations with Maria B’s representatives.

Adding to the drama, Turkan accused the brand of deleting their Instagram response stories, which she saw as an attempt to “evade accountability.” She also hit back at claims that she was doing it for attention, calling those accusations “audacious.”

The incident has sparked conversations within the creative industry, especially among influencers who say they often deal with brands not fulfilling contracts.

In response, Maria B issued a statement, denying the non-payment and calling it a “regrettable misunderstanding.” The brand claimed they had scheduled a meeting to resolve the issue but said Turkan chose to take it public instead.

As the controversy unfolds, all eyes remain on how both sides move forward.
